Privacy notice
This site has one form and one cookie. Here is exactly what each of them does, and who else touches anything.
Who this covers
This notice covers layconnect.com and the contact form on it. LayConnect decides why and how the data described here is handled, and is the controller for it. We work remotely and publish no postal address, so the way to reach us about anything on this page is contact@layconnect.com.
What the contact form collects
Your name, your email address, the subject you choose, your message, and your company if you choose to give one. Company is optional. Everything else is what we need in order to reply.
Why we collect it, and on what basis
To read your message and reply to it. That is the only purpose. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: you wrote to us about a piece of work, and answering you is the ordinary consequence of that. We do not use it for marketing, we do not add you to a list, and we do not sell or share it.
What else the submission carries
The address your request came from and the browser identifier your browser sends. Both are used to tell one genuine submission apart from a flood of automated ones, and for nothing else.
Protecting the form from bots
The form can be protected by a challenge that tells a person apart from a script, so that automated submissions do not reach us. While that challenge is switched on, the provider running it sees the connection behind your request in order to score it, and none of what you typed. While it is switched off, nothing is sent to that provider at all and the form relies on its other checks.
Who handles it besides us
Four, and no others. Email delivery: Resend, Inc., in the United States, which carries the fields you filled in and the address you sent them from. Bot protection: Cloudflare, Inc., which runs Turnstile and, only while that challenge is switched on, handles the connection data behind your request in order to tell a person from a script. Country-level location: a database held on our own server, so no request leaves it for that lookup. Hosting: a server we operate in the United States. Transfers outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom rest on the standard contractual clauses those providers publish. We keep this list current on this page: if it changes, this is where it changes.
How long we keep it
Your message and the reply thread stay in our inbox for twelve months after the last exchange, and are deleted after that. Nothing is written to a database on this site, because this site has no database. Ask us to delete your message sooner and we will delete it.
Cookies
One cookie, and only for language: it remembers which of the two versions you are reading, so you do not have to choose again, and it lasts twelve months. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie and no tracking on this site. We measure nothing about your visit.
Choosing your language
When you arrive at the root of the site, we look up the country of the address your request came from, using a database held on our own server, in order to send you to the English or the French version. The lookup happens in memory and its result is not stored. Our web server keeps standard access logs, which include the address your request came from.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to us holding it at all. Write to contact@layconnect.com and we will answer. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, which for most readers is the one in the country they live in.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
